Solutions - Unified ITIL Identity Integration
PresenceID facilitates identity best practices within the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework- Problem - Leading enterprises turn to standardized industry frameworks of best practice processes to improve service, reduce costs, increase agility and ensure regulatory compliance. The IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) has been adopted by many enterprises applying best practice IT processes. There is a strong synergy between identity and ITIL processes but problems and the cost of integrating traditional identity management solutions have hindered successful ITIL implementation.
- Solution - PresenceID is designed to facilitate and enhance identity integration that supports ITIL processes. PresenceID Reference Data Objects (RDO) can be grouped so that identity information about users can be leveraged to support ITIL processes. For example, a group of people can be defined in a PresenceID Group Reference Object (GRO) in which membership is determined by a person’s role in an organization or any other division of people (contractor, student, employee, business unit, etc). PresenceID Service Reference Objects (SRO) can define files, documents, applications, network and Web services, batch files, scripts, mashups or links, which can also be grouped in GROs. For example, in an ITIL deployment a project portfolio may be defined as a GRO that defines a set of SROs that can be authorized and provisioned to specific individuals, or a GRO that defines a group of individuals by a role with responsibility for the project. Provisioning the project portfolio and its constituent SROs in PresenceID can be done with a Personal Virtual Directory (PVD) that will provision a virtual directory to the participants of the authorized user GRO linked to all of the SROs in the project portfolio GRO.
